Biography:
Christopher E. McGraugh focuses his practice in the areas of criminal defense, workers compensation, medical malpractice, product liability, commercial litigation, fire litigation, insurance coverage and subrogation.
Mr. McGraugh hails from St. Louis, Missouri and has remained in the St. Louis area throughout his career. He graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelors Degree in 1983 and received his Juris Doctor from St. Louis University in 1987. In the same year he was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1987, he was admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. In addition, he is licensed to practice law in the U.S. District Courts of the Eastern District of Missouri, Southern District of Illinois, and the Central District of Illinois as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. McGraugh belongs to numerous professional associations with memberships in the Missouri Bar, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Client Security Fund Committee, and from 2002 to 2006 was a member of the 22nd Judicial Circuit Nomination Commission for the Missouri Bar. He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Legal Aid and Defense Association.
Receiving the highest ranking achievable from Martindale Hubbell, Mr. McGraugh has an AV Peer Review Rating and is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. In addition, he was profiled in the Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyer Magazine, 2006 Edition. Other distinctions include serving as Assistant Public Defender for St. Louis County and the Eastern Capital Divisions from 1987 to 1992, serving as Chairman of the Grievance Committee of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department from 1994 to 1996, serving as Local Counsel for the Innocence Project and serving as Hearing Officer for the Department of Public Safety.
Mr. McGraugh is also Co-Author of “Hung Out to Dry,” Review of Money Laundering Statutes in the Bar Journal of St. Louis, Fall 1996. He is a guest lecturer on topics of criminal defense and capital punishment for the Missouri State Public Defender’s Office, St. Louis University School of Law, Washington University School of Law and the University of Missouri. He is the president of the board of the St. Thomas More Society and serves on numerous charitable board of directors throughout the St. Louis area.
